Meeting Minutes

The September meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday September 25, 2013, at Johanssons. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by President Scott Albright. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers: President – Scott Albright, Vice President - Steve Rutzebeck, Treasurer – Kim Harris, Recording Secretary-Judi Carter, Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn. Board of Directors present were: Dawn Geigan, Lori Blake, Steve Timchula, and Bobbi Koppenhaver. Those missing were Tammy Brooks and Mike McGinnis.

President’s Report:

The talk is all about the plunge. Our team is already registered so get signed up. Dawn presented the Team Purple walk to the Council and did a great job. The Council bylaws are being reviewed. This year the convention will be our 50^th year. Nestor has 2 books on the Ravens 2000 & 2012 Super Bowl wins coming out there will be a special package for Roosts. Bull Roast is in February, tickets for the 50/50, and the wagon wheel of cheer are available now.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer’s report we have $6700 with a few outstanding items.

Membership:

Currently have 137 members. 1/3 of our members have paid the dues. You have until 11/1 to get them paid or you will have to be removed from membership per our bylaws. Two new members joined this month. David is a new member who was in attendance.

Pig Roast 9/14 – A very big thank you to everyone who came. The band that played wants to come back and play next year. A great time was had by all. A huge thanks to Bobbi and Jim for hosting this great event. We appreciate your hospitality.

Team Purple 10/27 – Katie Bollinger from the Ravens was with us and left some tee-shirts. She is very happy with the $2500 donation by our Roost to Team Purple, because she is from Carroll County and that gives her some bragging rights as she goes around to other groups. Join Team Purple now, go to the link from our website. Registration will be at 8:00 a.m. on the 10/27 and the walk begins at 9:00a.m.

Oriole Game 9/28 - Still tickets available.

Xmas Party: No updates at this time. Rafael would like us to have it there, but it is not big enough. More to come on this.

Miami Game – Sherry from Ravenette Travel is planning a group trip to the Miami game. You may email Sherry at sherry@ravenettetrips.com or call (727) 744-7824 if interested.

New Business:

Ravens Roost 115 Gnome – We now have a gnome who would like to travel with Roost. Those going to Miami or elsewhere don’t forget to take the gnome with you.

Jason Schneider Fundraiser – There will be a fundraiser at Rafael’s on 10/6 from 1-6. The Ravens game will be on TV, a silent auction and more. Proceeds go to benefit the family of Jason Schneider. Come on out and support this great cause while enjoying some fun with fellow Roost members.

Taste of Carroll – To benefit the Rape Crisis Center is being held on Monday, October 14^th at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $60. The event will be held at Martin’s Westminster.

Dick Jordan – Had emergency gallbladder surgery. We wish him well.

New Home Base – We are still in talks with Rafael, they really want us to stay. Scott is working with Raf on accommodations.

Meeting Minutes

The August meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday August 28, 2013, at Illianos J & P Pizza. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by Vice President Seve Rutzebeck. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers: Vice President Steve Rutzebeck, Treasurer – Kim Harris, Recording Secretary-Judi Carter, Corresponding Secretary – Tammy Brooks, Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn. Board of Directors present were: Dawn Geigan, Lori Blake, Steve Timchula, Mike McGinnis, and Bobbi Koppenhaver. Late arriving but definitely there, President – Scott Albright.

President’s Report:

No one could make it to the council meeting so no report.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer’s report we have $12,356.88 with a few outstanding items. This includes banners to be put up at the high schools.

Membership:

New member Perry Joy joined online. Corine & Bob also new members were present. Renewal time is 9/1, per the council you have until 11/1 to pay your dues or you will be removed from the list. The membership committee will be holding to the 11/1 date this year, so get your dues in. Price is still $36 for the year.

Pig Roast 9/14 – 32 responses so far, bring a dish there will be a live band, beer is provided and children are welcome.

Roost 50 Golf Tournament 9/14 – this is the same day as our pig roast. We are looking for a foursome.

Oriole Game 9/28: vs. Boston Red Sox. Tickets are $25, on a first come first serve basis. Game time is at 7:00pm. We will be taking a bus down.

Team Purple – October 27: 9:00am at the old Memorial Stadium area. For $35 you too can be a member of Team Purple. Come out and show your colors for breast cancer.

Xmas Party: Steve, Mike & Nick have volunteered for the committee, but could use help and ideas.

Elections:

Voting will be at our next meeting on September 25^th. All Officer and Board of Director positions are open. Judi will be creating and counting the ballots. If you would like to run or nominate someone please let her know at juditv@comcast.net, or see any of the current officers. Positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Sergeant at Arms and 5 Board of Director positions. Can’t run no problem, we can always use help for events.

Meeting Minutes

The July meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday July 24, 2013, at Paradiso. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by President Scott Albright. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers: President-Scott Albright, Vice President Steve Rutzebeck, Treasurer – Kim Harris, Recording Secretary-Judi Carter, Corresponding Secretary – Tammy Brooks, Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn. Board of Directors present were: Dawn Geigan, Lori Blake and Steve Timchula. Missing: Mike McGinnis, and Bobbi Koppenhaver.

President’s Report:

There will be a Blood Drive at 5507 Selma Ave, Halethorpe, MD 21227 on August 24, 2013 in honor of Sharon McCain. Call 1-800-733-2767 or go on line to www.redcrossblood.org (use sponsor code 05314661) The Council of Colts Corrals is having a dinner on October 27, 2013 from 1-6pm at Michael’s 8^th Avenue. Cost of $40. Training camp has begun. We have asked that the council donate $1,000 to Food Sunday. Bill West has a new radio show on 99.1 on FM. He still has his am show. There is a new president at the Maryland Special Olympics, we will be working with them for the Polar Bear Plunge. To remain a non-profit we must keep 30% of our income from outside sales.

Treasurer’s Report:

Kim gave the Treasurer’s report we have $10,823 in the account. Golf proceeds are around $6,485. We voted and all were in favor of utilizing proceeds from the golf outing as follows:

$300 to Pathfinders for Autism; $500 to Baltimore Saints Hockey Program; and $2,500 to Team Purple in honor of Dawn.

Membership:

Welcome new members John & Dianne Morrissey and Paul and Ellen Hucheber.

Crab Feast, August 10: At the VFW, 6:00pm-10:00 p.m. We need volunteers, please contact Kim Harris at kimmieh1204@gmail.com or Lori Blake at lblake6675@yahoo.com. We are having a 50/50, Several nice door prizes and 2 autographed items. For tickets to the crab feast contact Kim Harris at the above email address.

Pig Roast 9/14 – We may have 2 entertainers this year. More details to come.

Roost 50 Golf Tournament 9/14 – this is the same day as our Pig Roast. We are looking for a foursome. Scott and Cork will put a foursome together.

Culinary Experience October 14 – This is an event for the Rape Crisis Center. Tickets are $60/person.

Team Purple – October 27: 9:00 a.m. at the old Memorial Stadium. The Roost motioned and passed to donate $2,500 to Team Purple in Dawn ‘s name. For $35 you too can be a member of Team Purple.

Banners at the High Schools – Logo Banner at Westminster High School Stadium for the school year. You get a 2 x 3 ft banner at a cost of $500 to benefit the athletic boosters. May look into Winters Mill stadium as well.

Away Games at Rafaels – We are planning on continuing the away games at Rafaels with everyone brining a non-perishable food item to benefit Food Sunday.

Jeff Gibbons won the 50/50 for $70.

Next Meeting:

Our next meeting will be held on August 28, 2013, 6:00 p.m., at J & P Pizza located at 480 Meadow Creek Drive in Westminster (in the shopping center across from Safeway and behind Walgreens). We will have a private room for our meeting.

The June meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday June 26, 2013, at Maggies . The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00 pm by President Scott Albright. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers: President-Scott Albright, Treasurer-Kim Harris, Corresponding Secretary -Tammy Brooks, Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn. Board of Directors present were: Dawn Geigan, Lori Blake. and Steve Timchula.

Missing: Bobbi Koppenhaver. Recording Secretary- Judi Carter, VP-Steve Rutzebeck, Mike McGinnis.

President’s Report:

Well, Convention is over, another Great Success. Perception was that the most ever to be on hand to watch the parade. Plenty of pictures of the weekend's activities are on the Council website . We are already starting to think of ideas for next year's float.

Council Gala celebrating 50 years is coming up in October, details to follow.

New Roost from Jacksonville MD #131. Welcome.

We need to submit Charity forms to Dave Shultz for Council review at July meeting.

Bobbi was not present will update in July. There was a mention of name tags so current members will have a better means of interaction with newer members Will review at July meeting.

O’s Game July 13: What a Great day, weather was nice and Hot, most everyone did receive the Adam Jones replica jersey. Although we did not get a win we did see Chris Davis hit another one out of the Park. Mike will be planning a fall trip details to follow.

Crab Feast, August 10: At the VFW, 6:00pm-10:00pm. We will need 2-3 people for a committee. Last’s year’s was sold out. This is also one of our biggest fundraisers. We are raffling off a Super Bowl Football signed by Ray Lewis. Tammy has the raffle tickets for the Ray Lewis football. Price of the tickets is $10 each or 3 for $20. You can also pay online. Dennis Colson is the chair email address dlctx@comcast.net. Tickets are on sale. Remind everyone to fill in their stubs. This year a hostess will seat you. We will also have crab knives this year. We need volunteers for the 50/50, the jar tickets, and raffle. We are hoping for people to donate 1 hour of their evening to help out. Dennis will be working on a Volunteers list please sign up as you are able.

Pottery Loft Fundraiser – A date is not set yet. We would be able to hand out flyers to friends and family then 20% of all sales will go to us. There are many items to choose from plates, bowls, mugs, coffee cups that you can paint how you would like. To go along with this, at a different time we could do the Believe Mugs charity. For $10 you paint a mug however you like the word Believe on it. The mugs go to cancer patients.

Team Purple – October 27: 9:00am at the old Memorial Stadium area. As you may know Dawn participated in Team Purple last year, for the American Breast Cancer Foundation. To boost the numbers Dawn and Katie Bollinger will be going to the Council in August to inform all Roosts

The May meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday May 22, 2013, at the VFW. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by President Scott Albright. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers: President-Scott Albright, Vice President Steve Rutzebeck,

Recording Secretary-Judi Carter, Corresponding Secretary – Tammy Brooks, Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn. Board of Directors present were: Bobbi Koppenhaver, Dawn Geigan, and Lori Blake. Missing: Treasurer- Kim Harris, Board of Directors: Mike McGinnis and Steve Timchula

President’s Report:

The Council of Roosts’ main focus this month is the convention coming up the end of May. All details are on our website. Convention shirts were handed out. The newest Roost is in Canton, #130 Lighthouse Tavern came to their first council meeting. Council has $50,000 in the bank which will be distributed soon. Suggestions for donations in our included: Food Sunday, Voices for Children, Carroll Hospice and the Boys and Girls Club. Stan the Fan is promoting Jonathan Ogden’s new book “Rise to Fame”. Any Roost that orders 100 or more books will get a signed book by JO at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. There is a Justin Tucker signing in June. The Council is planning a 50^th Gala in the fall, more information to come. The bull roast will be February 15, 2013, same price of $43 and same band. We purchased 2 plaques, one for the golf tournament and one for the crab feast.

Treasurer’s Report:

Scott gave the Treasurer’s report we have around $4500.

Membership:

5 new members joined in April; we currently have 107 active members.

Flower & Jazz Mart, May 11: Thanks to all who helped out at the booth and as helpers. A lot of people stopped by and the beads were a hit. Brandon, one of our new members, did a great job. Check out the pictures on our website.

Convention, May 30 – June: Theme “Fly Like A Raven”. The theme for the float is “2 Tickets to Paradise”. We have an awesome sign; the song will be played with Ed Reed’s version dubbed in. Scott will be playing Ed. We will be working on the float this Saturday at Legacy Construction at 3:00. Come if you can. Look for the three crosses on rte 27 and Legacy is right there. We will be tossing footballs from the float. Kids are welcome to march; they just need to wear anything purple. For the convention we are donating a basket for bingo. You will receive parade route information and activities in your convention bags.

Golf Tournament, June 14: At the Gettysburg Links, registration at 12 – shot gun start at 1. There will be a committee meeting in the next week or so. We need 6-8 volunteers for registration, silent auction, putting, and closest to the pin. We also need items for the goody bags. There will be a keg available during the registration period.

O’s Game, July 13 vs. Toronto: We will be taking a school bus to the game. Tickets are $20 if purchased by cash or check or $21 if purchased by credit card. Orange shirts are available for $22 for most sizes for the O’s game.

Meeting Minutes

The April meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday April 24, 2013, at Rafael’s. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by President Scott Albright. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Board of Directors present were: Bobbi Koppenhaver, Dawn Geigan, Lori Blake, Mike McGinnis, and Steve Timchula. Missing: Vice President Steve Rutzebeck

President’s Report:

Treasurer’s Report:

Kim gave a Treasurer’s report. We currently have $8,997.88 in the bank, with checks for convention registration and shirts yet to be cashed.

Membership:

We had 4 new members join at last meeting making it 11 total new members for April. Welcome to Brad Jenkins, Danny “Coach” Wilson, Hollie Cushen, Ian Rohe, Melissa Fordham, Mike & Beth Armacost, Mike Golden Sr., Mike Golden Jr., Pat Zent-Burton and Shannon Hunt!

Footsteps for Hope - April 20: This was a 2k walk. Thanks go to Major Offense, Purple Dame & Birdman for being there for the walkers. The Roost donated $250 and the walk raised $7,000. We also had a booth there with Scott Albright and Dawn Geigan working the booth. Roost Member Lori Blake walked with her daughter Ali and Dawn’s daughter Hayley Smith also walked.

Walk-A-Mile In Her Shoes - April 13: Scott, Cork, James, Tim and Choco were our walkers. Other members showed up to cheer at them on from the finish line and some fans walked with our guys. Our volunteers were Bobbi Koppenhaver, Dawn Geigan and Donna Franey who worked the registration desk. Also spotted cheering on our walkers was Judi Carter, Lew Hund and Sarah Hund-Brown. We raised almost $1,500 for the Rape Crisis Center.

Flower & Jazz Mart, May 11: We have been offered a booth if we volunteer to help with set-up and tear down. We need people to volunteer for set-up, tear-down and to watch the booth. Please contact Dawn if you would be interested.

Convention, May 30 – June: Theme “Fly Like A Raven”. We are in the process of reworking our float idea. So far we have bleachers and goal posts. Please send any ideas in. New Roost shirts are still in the works. For the convention people the Roost will pick up $10 of the $30 cost. For the hospitality suite we are donating food as a Roost vs as individuals needing to bring dishes (i.e. foot-long subs, pizza or chicken). You will still need your wristbands which you will get in your bags.

Golf Tournament, June 14: At the Gettysburg Links, registration at 12 – shot gun start at 1. There will be a committee meeting in the next week or so.

O’s Game, July 13 vs Yankees: We will be taking a bus to the game. More information to come on the website.

Special Guest:

Bill & Anne McKenna from the Marriage & Relationship Education Center were on hand to discuss the affects of divorce on children, family and the community. They offer relationship classes for children, couples and singles. They also offer financial classes. They work with Health Department, the school system and the YMCA. In October they are sponsoring Date Night Carroll, to encourage couples to date 1 night per week. Couples who date 1 night each week experience 3.5 times more general and sexual happiness. They are looking for volunteers to help with getting restaurants, churches and other facilities to offer specials for date night couples, or babysitting. They have an organization who will match funds for $1000, the Roost donated $100.

New Business:

Vanity plates are available from the MVA for a fee of $25 over the price of your existing tags. See Dawn or Bobbi for paperwork.

The Terra Rubin Golf Tournament will be on 5/31 at the Links in Gettysburg.

2^nd Annual Pig Roast – September 14: This is a PRIVATE PARTY for Ravens Roost #115 MEMBERS and their guests ONLY. Because this is at a Member’s Home, the information will be sent via an Evite invitation directly to our members. More information to follow.

The March meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday March 27, 2013, at Rafael’s. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by President Scott Albright. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. President’s Report:

The Roosts raised over $110,000 for the Plunge, #115 is in the top 5 and we will get and an autographed football by Torrey Smith.

Treasurer’s Report:

Kim gave a Treasurer’s report. We currently have $6,379.00 in the bank. We have made the deposit to Harris Seafood for the Crab Feast.

Membership:

6 new members in February and a new member in March, who is Brendan Snyder.

ROOST 117 DANCE: April 6, 2013. Tickets are available at $25 each. This Roost has supported our Golf and Crab Feast events. Oracle is the band and the event is in Catonsville. Let’s show some support.

FOOTSTEPS FOR HOPE: April 20. This is a 2K walk for the PMJ Foundation and Live Laugh Hope Foundation (Lexi Ross, who’s mom, Caroline Ross and stepfather, Steve Tipton are members of our Roost). We are looking for a team to walk.

WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES: April 13. You can go online to register to walk or to donate money to our walkers.

CONVENTION: is May 30 – June 3. Theme this year is “Fly Like a Raven”. Register your rooms now and don’t forget to say you are with Roost 50. Convention rooms are going quick. A sample of our Roost T-Shirt was displayed. We are working on pricing. Shirt order forms are available for convention. There are men’s and women’s shirts and hoodies. The registration fee for the convention is $55.00, which includes food and drink at the convention for Friday and Saturday. All registration forms and shirt money needs to be to Scott by April 15^th so he can send in one check to the Council. Make all checks out to Ravens Roost 115. Don’t forget to register for the events as well. Ads are available for the convention brochure. Legacy Construction, who provided the truck and trailer for the winter parade, will be providing the truck and trailer for the parade in Ocean City. Terri Shull is heading the Convention Committee and you should contact her to help. A motion for a $1000.00 budget was brought forth and passed. The theme for the float is “Ravens of Oz”. We will need to tear the float down after the parade before partying begins. All #115 members who go to the convention are expected to be in the parade. We will be designing a shirt (Heather Fields?) for us to wear down there as a group. Committee members include Terri Shull, Lori, Michele, Curt & Mike. However, if you would like to help, email 88sgreat@live.com. Phillips Crabs House is offering a special to Roost members for that weekend. Hospitality Suite hours are Friday 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. At the Hospitality suite, you must have a bracelet to get in, which will be in your bag. Everyone is expected to bring a crockpot dish (please put your name on your dish). If you know someone who is a snack vendor, let us know to help with snacks. No glass in the suite. There will be no breakfast this year. Roost #50 has a budget of $500. Our budget will be less. This covers the beer. Bring chairs (that you are not afraid to be destroyed). Other items needed, water, soda, paper products, contractor bags, and electric strips (with name on them).

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE FOR CONVENTION: Bobbi and Dawn will be our liaison with Roost 50. They will let us know what we need to help out with.

GOLF TOURNAMENT: Is June 14 at The Links in Gettysburg. Shot Gun starts at 1:00 p.m. We need 2-3 people to head a committee for this event, and lots of teams. It’s not too early to start thinking about silent auction goody bag items. This is our biggest fund raiser. We need stuff for gift bags and prizes for longest driver, closest to the pin. Tickets this year are $100.00 with a rib dinner after the tournament. We will have beer, water and Gatorade available on the course. Darren has donated 20 cases for the course and a keg before tee-off. We will have a golf meeting near the end of April. Stay tuned for more details.

CRAB FEAST: August 10 at the Westminster VFW. We will need 2-3 people for a committee. The time is 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Last’s year’s was sold out. This is also one of our biggest fundraisers. We are in need door prizes. We are raffling off a Super Bowl Football signed by Ray Lewis. Tammy Brooks has the raffle tickets for the Ray Lewis football; feel free to contact her for tickets. Price of the tickets is $10.00 each or 3 for $20.00. You can also pay online. Dennis Colson is the chair and his email address is dictx@comcast.net.

SNAP HOLD KICK: is Thursday April 18 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Greene Turtle in Westminster. This is an autograph signing event with Morgan Cox, Sam Koch & Justin Tucker. Tickets are $30.00 each, which entitles you 1 signature from each player on any item you bring or purchased at the event and a chance to win a football signed by Terrell Suggs. Proceeds are to benefit Food Sunday. The Greene Turtle is also donating 10% of all food sales during the evening.

OLD BUSINESS: Orders from Larry Beck are in and Steve Timchula has them. Make checks payable to Larry Beck.

Special Guest:

John Ziemann who joined the Colt’s band in 1962, was in attendance. He is the current President of the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band. He worked at Channel 2, and is now with the Babe Ruth Legends Museum. He brought with him some awesome memorabilia and great stories. Then John donated various items for a raffle at the end of the evening. All those who bought 50/50 tickets were eligible to win. Roost 115 also donated $200.00 to the Babe Ruth Museum.

Meeting Minutes

The February meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday February 27, 2013, at Rafael’s. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00pm by Treasurer Kim Harris. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers: Recording Secretary-Judi Carter, Corresponding Secretary – Tammy Brooks, Treasurer- Kim Harris, and Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn. Board of Directors present were Bobbi Koppenhaver, Dawn Geigan, and Steve Timchula. Missing were: President-Scott Albright, Vice-President - Steve Rutzebeck, Lori Blake and Mike McGinnis.

President’s Report:

Notes from the January Council meeting: Warm Drawer Project, more info to follow. The Council Roost logo has been trademarked. The Roosts’ raised over $110,000 for the Plunge, #115 is in the top 5 and we will get and autographed football by Torrey Smith.

Treasurer’s Report:

Kim gave a Treasurer’s report. We currently have $7130 in the bank with one outstanding bill for website hosting and domain name.

Membership:

Bobbi reported that we have 109 current and paid members, and we are growing. There were 5 new members present: Donna Mellin, John and Patty Hiltz, Patty Glauber and Kim Skipper making a total of 109 members.

Council Bull Roast - #115 had 45 members attend and was one of the top 4 groups in the house. All had a great time including the bus driver.

Board of Directors meeting was held at Rafael’s on February 21^st. Discussions included: how to choose charities to support, membership levels, event schedule, PR & advertising, and rewards to members for helping out. Game plan for 2013 includes, golf tournament, plunge, crab feast, Council bull roast.

George Politz from Larry Beck brought in various Super Bowl related items for sale. For every $100 purchased Larry Beck’s will donate 15% back to the roost. Items offered included: 2 sizes of the Lombardi trophy, Black Raven with a gold football $29, 9x12 plagues with list of games and the scores $29, Laminated front pages from Sunpapers for $25 and more. These items are not available online, but you can contact George at 410-265-7200.

Meeting Minutes

The January meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday January 23, 2013, at the VFW. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:30pm by President, Scott Albright. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers: President-Scott Albright, Recording Secretary-Judi Carter, Corresponding Secretary – Tammy Brooks, Treasure- Kim Harris, Sergeant at Arms- George Colburn. Board of Directors present were Bobbi Koppenhaver, Dawn Geigan, Lori Blake, Steve Timchula. and Mike McGinnis

President’s Report:

Notes from the January Council meeting: Plunge is this weekend, we are currently #5 in donations, Justin Tucker named Unsung Hero by Roosts, Charlotte was named fan of the week by the Baltimore Sun for the week of 1/11/13, Scott was asked to join the Charity Committee and accepted. Roosts had to give an overview of their donations for 2012, we donated $6269 not including donations to the plunge and others. New Roosts: 129 Greene Turtle in Pasadena, and Lake Shore. The Convention theme is “Fly Like A Raven”. Roost 117 is having a dance, April 6, we have bought 10 tickets at $25 each for anyone who would like to go.

Treasurer’s Report:

Kim gave a Treasurer’s report. We currently have $9848 in the bank. List of donations was handed out. Recipients include: Pancreatic and Breast Cancer, American Cancer Society, VFW, MDA, Red Cross, Adopt a Family, Food Sunday, Live Laugh Hope, etc.

Membership:

Bobbi reported that we have 97 current and paid members, and we are growing. There were 4 new members present: Tom & Terry Shaw, Carolyn Ross, and Steve Tipton, welcome to the Roost. We have 44 people who will be deleted from the roster, unless they come to their senses and decide to rejoin.

Entertainment/Events –

Council Bull Roast on February 16, tickets are $46. We have 1 ticket remaining, but may be able to get more. We will be taking a bus down to the LeFontain Bleu. Wagon of Cheer tickets are available for $1. You can count on awesome food, a great band and a great time, plus you don’t have to drive down or back.

Polar Bear Plunge We have 9 plungers. The bus leaves at 8am from the Denny’s parking lot. Please park at the bottom of lot not to disturb shoppers. Bring food, drink and chairs. Currently we are in 5^th place on the Roost donation list. We are hoping to make this one bigger and better.

Super Bowl Sunday. Some people are getting together at Rafaels.

Walk-A-Mile In Her Shoes April 13, we will discuss if we are participating again this year at the February meeting. If we do we will need 2 people to head this up, and people to walk. The cause is the Rape Crisis Center.

Crab Feast August 10, we will need 2-3 people for a committee. Last’s year’s was sold out. This is also one of our big fundraisers.

The Oriole game is back. It was decided on 2 games this year 1 in the spring and 1 in the fall. Great time and again bus to and from the event.

Meeting Minutes

The November meeting of Ravens Roost 115 was held on Wednesday November 28, 2012, at Maggie’s. The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:30pm by President, Scott Albright. George led the Roost in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a “Go Ravens”. A roll call of Officers and Board Members was conducted. Present were Officers: President, Scott Albright, Vice President Steve Rutzebeck, Recording Secretary Judi Carter, Corresponding Secretary – Tammy Brooks, Treasurer, Kim Harris, Sergeant at Arms, George Colburn. Board of Directors present were Bobbi Koppenhaver, Dawn Geigan, Lori Blake, and Steve Timchula. Missing Mike McGinnis

President’s Report:

Notes from the November Council meeting: 12 foundations that the Council donates to were represented including Brigance’s Brigade, Maryland Special Olympics, David Modell and the Ray Lewis Foundation. Over $30,000 was donated. New Roosts: 127 Cumberland, 128 Reva Island, Passadena. The Council had a blood drive at Reese Fire hall, as the home Roost we had about 6 members there to help out.

Treasurer’s Report:

Kim gave a Treasurer’s report. We currently have $10,892 in the bank. Recent donations include $500 to the Red Cross for hurricane Sandy, $100 MDA, $100 to sponsor Dawn for a breast cancer event, $100 to sponsor Kim for a pancreatic event.

Membership:

Bobbi reported that about 60% of the Roost have renewed their membership. There will be 1 more request letter sent out, then a letter letting them know that they will be taken off the membership roster. There was discussion on whether to continue with membership cards. Bobbi will confirm if the 10% off at Raphael’s during meetings and NFL games is still valid. It was decided to continue with the cards. New member Ted was introduced.

Guests –

The Purple Dame introduced Lexi Ross, who heads up the Live, Hope Laugh Foundation whose mission is to help children and teens with chronic illness. Lexi was diagnosed in 10/08 with Diabetes and has been working to help raise money for that disease as well as others. She also sold Ravens barretts. Motion to donated $200 passed.

Matt Stover night at the Babe Ruth Museum is December 4 from 5:30-8. Tickets are $55 and the Roost will pay ½ making the price of a ticket $27.50. If we get enough people we will also take a bus. Response needed by Friday.

Tailgate party at Rafael’s on December 9^th at 12:30 to watch the Ravens/Skins game. We are requesting people to bring a canned or boxed good to be donated to Food Sunday. Since Rafael supports the roost it was suggested that we meet there for all away games and make it charity related.

Purple Friday is December 14 from 5-7pm at the Giant in Westminster. Poe, 98 Rock, and some Cheerleaders will be there. Since we are the home Roost it was requested that we have has many people there to help build up the energy. So get out your Roost and Ravens gear. You can reply to the Evite or show up.

The Holiday Party is December 15 from 2-4 at O’Lourdan’s. Food will be served with a cash bar. The charity for this event is Toys-for-Tots, please bring a toy. This is a family friendly event. Santa Claus, in a purple suite that was voted on to purchase, will be there so if you are bringing a child, please bring a small toy wrapped with their name for Santa to give them.

The Roost is adopting 2 families. a 25 year old single dad with a 3 year old and a 49 year old single dad with a 14 year old girl and 15 year old boy. Bobbi will be doing the shopping. Motion made for the budget to be $150 for family with 3 year old and $350 for the family with the teens for a total of $500. Bobbi also mentioned that if you have used clothing or household goods to donate them to 2^nd chances on Green Street. Things there are free to help people getting started again.

The Polar Bear Plunge date has been set for January 26, our team page is ready for those who want to plunge. We will be providng a bus (maybe a coach) for all plungers and anyone who would like to come cheer the plungers on. The Council Holiday Party will be held on 12/21 from 5-7pm at the Knights of Columbus in Catonsville.

There was a Brian Billick charity event at Buffalo Wild Wings, to benefit a girls soccer team. A number of members were there and the Roost made some donations.

The Parade of Lights in Westminster is on 11/24 was a lot of fun. Thanks to Heather and Kathy for the planning of the float and to all who helped build and walk in the parade. Dawn said her dentist said we had a great float. Scott’s polar bear tail was awesome.

New Business:

A tee-shirt with a small logo on the front and a large logo on back was displayed. The 2 logos cost $15 plus the cost of the shirt.

Membership for the Chamber of Commerce is up for renewal at the cost of $330. Motion made to continue membership and passed.
